The Mackenzie Family Store

Shopkeepers Residence

1855 -

28-year-old Scottish-born Robert McKenzie established the Mackenzie’s Family Store on the very steep Newtown Hill. The store remained in business for over 100 years, with McKenzie and his family opening a second store at Milawa a few years later.
In the late 1940s it was run by Harry Price, and in the 1950s John Hunt took over and the main building became his grain store. In the 1970s it was run as a fruit and vegetable shop by George and Mary Harding.

A little about us

2020 - Current

In 2020 we were fortunate to acquire an 1850's Grocer's Shop & Country House.

The building came with the original residence and grounds of the shopkeeper, which we have lovingly restored & cultivated an Oasis.

As you step inside, you’ll be transported back in time, surrounded by the authentic Victorian architecture and period features. The careful restoration work has ensured that the building’s charm and character have been preserved, creating a warm and inviting ambiance.

We take great pleasure in sharing this tranquil space with our clients, partners & guests. Find inspiration and relaxation in every corner as the unique setting invites you to unwind and rejuvenate.
